Abstract

This review article provides a global perspective on the role of pharmacoeconomics in managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and asthma. It examines the economic burden of chronic conditions on healthcare systems and the cost-effectiveness of various pharmacological interventions. The article reviews methodologies used in pharmacoeconomic evaluations, including cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, and cost-utility analyses. It also discusses the impact of pharmacoeconomics on healthcare policy and decision-making, highlighting the importance of balancing cost with clinical outcomes. The review concludes by exploring future trends in pharmacoeconomics, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where the burden of chronic disease is rapidly increasing.
