Abstract

This study focuses on the development and evaluation of a sustained-release drug delivery system for hypertension management using hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymers. We formulated matrix tablets containing a model antihypertensive drug and assessed their in vitro release profiles. The results demonstrated that the combination of these polymers effectively prolonged the drug release over 24 hours, providing consistent therapeutic levels. Pharmacokinetic studies in animal models showed improved bioavailability and reduced dosing frequency compared to conventional formulations. This research highlights the potential of sustained-release systems in enhancing patient adherence and optimizing hypertension treatment.
